I have long wanted a voce recognition software so I can write with as much ease as talking. I don't know if it would increase the quality of my work or even make me want to write more. I enjoy typing the words on the screen. It does give me a sense of control. Can you imagine a painter saying, draw me a mountain in blue? Writing is a craft and I believe that word requires handiwork.
We would lose something of the craft if we lost the keyboard, but as your post suggests, we would not lose the content or the comprehension. So I say let it go. Artists will move on. We have moved on from the pen and the parchment. So get ready to forget how to spell or write. At the least, those skills might beget us a job in some historical recreation site of the past.
Interesting lunch. Kind of like the KFC sandwich that had two chicken breasts for bread with an inside of bacon and cheese.
Writers often read their drafts aloud to help improve it. But to craft an essay, poem, or other creative writing piece, sparking thoughts for a computer to capture is so foreign to me. However, I would be willing to try voice recognition software and then let the silent part follow in revision and editing stages.
