Girl Fat Vs. Guy Fat
Some rights reserved by mikebairdThe unfair battle between the sexes raises its ugly head yet again, this time in weight reduction plans. We all know that men have the ability to lose weight at a much quicker pace than women, but do you really know why? You will be surprised at the research that we uncovered that makes men drop pounds on the scale much more quickly than women.
Biology plays a big part in this equation; men are made differently than women. For instance men carry much more testosterone in their bodies than women. This allows them to form more muscle quicker, therefore, decreasing body fat and increasing their metabolism. When men hit the gym, they immediately start to increase muscle in a more rapid pace than women. We see it all the time, women who go to the gym regularly may never achieve the same goal. Well there are some other reasons for this, as well.
Women immediately notice when they are gaining weight and their response to this disaster is to go on a ‘crash diet’ to lose the gained weight. Whereas men notice weight gain at a much slower rate, their first reaction is to hit the gym. Not really changing what they eat as much as pumping the iron and sometimes this works for them. However, women have a much more detailed weight loss plan than just lifting weights. The crash diet is bad for many reasons, but the biggest negative is that it actually reverses the effect of losing weight by stalling your metabolism, the very thing that helps you lose weight. Crash diets are never the answer, eating five to six healthy meals a day helps start up the metabolism, therefore, allowing the weight loss process to start in a healthy way.
A big issue for women is their perception or mind set when it comes to their bodies. With stress being the number one reason for weight gain, many women find comfort in eating and usually in eating the wrong foods. Women tend to lean towards carbohydrates to make them feel better, whereas typically men eat meat. Because men are bigger than women, their bodies need more calories a day than women. This can sometimes leave women feeling hungry and starved, unless they are eating the right foods. A woman who feels hungry all the time is more apt to binge eat to get rid of hunger or the stress, but with the eating comes depression and anger over being overweight.
So even though biology holds the strings to weight loss in many instances, so does the way women view their bodies. Gaining a healthy perception of your body, eating healthy and incorporating a moderate work out plan is always the answer in better results for weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight.
