Food habits and meals seem to go out the windows when school ends, and parents and family have to be sure kids are getting the right nutrition. More farming in cities will help. I would even go as far as setting up an agriculture department for each county to insure fresh vegetables for every family. It is to our benefit and we can create jobs, community building, and foster an appreciation for fresh food right in our neighborhoods. It is also a way to share our abundance with the elderly and disabled.

Supporting the organizations is a great start. Your post is call for action and will benefit us all, with children and without, as we make sure everyone has healthy and fresh food in their houses.

Thanks for the post and I will send this out to everyone I know.

James Dugan comments on Five Kid-Friendly Pack-and-Go Picnic Favorites

Great ideas for lunch and a picnic. You have inspired me to get out today. I would like to see what you think of early morning picnics. I have been doing this with my kids during the real hot months, and they enjoy it. They are pleasant and want to be outside. I take some milk and cereal and some fruit. They are exhausted by ten. It is quiet at the park then and it feels like we have the whole day.

Thanks for the post -- you are really creative.

James Dugan comments on Creating an Italian Kitchen: The Essential Ingredients

Your posts make me hungry for dinner. I'll check out the links. I have dropped the wheat out for about a month now, and feel great. I don't have the cravings between meals or the late afternoon tiredness. I can't say I'm healthier yet because I think the heavy dose of amoxicillin I took at the beginning of April for a double ear infection and bronchitis knocked out my immune system a bit because I keep getting sick. Just not as sick. Baby steps!

Nick Carraway comments on 7 Questions with Melissa Joulwan, author of Well Fed

Hey Barb,

I did a post on Crossfit about two months back.
