    Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde offers a dystopian view of the future. Social status, occupation and power depend on the color you view the world in. It takes place in the distant future after the modern world had dissipated. Fforde creates a world under a The Munsell Religion that protects the society by strict observance to the color caste system, jettisoning rogue members, outlawing night travel, and abandoning all study of history. It is an imaginary work with philosophical discussions that mostly concern free choice vs. societal control.
